Are you interested in training to become a teacher?

At Sackville School we are committed to developing outstanding future teachers and play a very active role in Initial Teacher Education (ITE). We work closely in partnership with the universities of Sussex and Brighton to provide high quality training placements across a wide range of subjects as part of their PGCE programmes.

Sackville mentors have also successfully trained teachers through the School Direct (SD) route in which the school leads the selection and training of candidates. Being able to choose who we train as teachers helps us in delivering the best outcomes for the students at Sackville and across our partners in The Millais Alliance.

Recently, restrictions on the numbers of ITE training places allocated to schools were lifted. This, alongside our very strong exam results and Ofsted report, enables us to offer SD training vacancies for 2016-17 in the following subjects:

  • Buisness Studies
  • Chemistry
  • Computing
  • English
  • Geography
  • Mathematics
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Physics

We would be very interested to hear from you if you are thinking of becoming a teacher, or know someone who is. We’re looking for people who have (or will have) a degree, have a passion for teaching and want to inspire young people to fulfil their potential. We are very happy to arrange a school visit to discuss training opportunities or for classroom observations.

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact the Professional Tutor, Steve Bush by email at sbush@sackvilleschool.org.uk or by calling the school.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Steve Bush
